‘Kentucky Life’ features Kentucky iron furnaces, Harriette Simpson Arnow, Louisville nature preserve and the Underground Railroad

For Release: 10/28/26 8:33 AM

In a new episode of Kentucky Life, host Chip Polston learns how iron furnaces throughout Kentucky produced metal that helped shape the state and nation.

The episode also explores the life and legacy of Pulaski County native Harriette Simpson Arnow, one of the most influential voices of American literature.

Polston also visits a Louisville nature preserve that connects people with the natural world through hands-on educational experiences.

Finally, viewers will learn about Kentucky’s role in the Underground Railroad and how many courageous Kentuckians, including members of Lexington’s AME Church, provided refuge to freedom seekers.
